This product is generally consumed by individuals between the ages of 13 months – 13 years old. The result of measuring product with the smaller scoop is that only 60% of the labeled nutritional content will be consumed per serving. Kashi Company today announced a voluntary recall of Kashi® Trail Mix Chewy Granola Bars and Bear Naked® Soft Baked Granola, Cinnamon + Sunflower Butter in the continental United States because they contain ingredients made from sunflower seeds distributed by our supplier, SunOpta, that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. The company has received no reports of illness to date but is taking this action as part of its commitment to the health and safety of the people who eat its foods.
